Nintendo Controller Wallpaper

November 19th, 2010 2 comments

Retro Geek Gaming FTW! This is a really nice closeup nintendo controller. Perhaps the most recognizable game controller ever made? I’ve seen wallets made from the nintendo controller, placemats all kinds of stuff! A quick flick over google images shows one made out of a lego, a dress, a backpack, belt buckle… It’s certainly cemented itself into geek culture and nothing shows off your retro gamer credentials better than having it as your wallpaper.

Commodore 64 Wallpaper

Continuing the retro gaming theme, here’s a stunning Commodore poster which I’ve turned into wallpapers. The commodore 64 poster was created by James White from signalnoise, and you buy prints of this and other posters at the signalnoise store.

The commodore 64 was released in 1982, when I was just 1 month old. It soon became a hugely popular gaming platform, and is now considered a classic among consoles. Jame’s poster makes a fanatastic commodore wallpaper – minimal yet full of color.

Linux Tux Lightbulb wallpaper

October 25th, 2010 No comments

Wtpirate posted this cool Linux wallpaper to reddit. It shows the linux penguin bringing light into the world, which is a pretty neat metaphor. It’s a pretty minimal wallpaper, with plenty of room for icons and toolbars on your linux desktop. I figured having a linux wallpaper would be good after the microsoft mouse pointer I posted yesterday!

Enjoy it!

Giant Mouse Pointer Wallpaper

October 24th, 2010 No comments

Heh, this one is the first in a series of tongue-in-cheek uber-geek wallpapers. There’s really not much more to say than that, It’s a giant mouse pointer. At once minimal and absurdly in-your-face. You can have fun arranging your icons on the black pixels, or try to keep them all within the mouse pointer.

Aero Minimize/Close Toolbar Wallpaper

October 19th, 2010 No comments

When Windows Vista introduced the Aero theme it shook a lot of the preconceptions about the operating system’s user interface. It was clearly related to the chunky desktop environment of the 95-era OSes, but some serious design thought had obviously gone into it too.

This geek wallpaper takes the instantly recognisable minimise/maximise/close window toolbar and turns it into a great minimal wallpaper. Enjoy, and subscribe if you want to be updated when the next geek wallpaper is published :0)

Blue Binary Code Wallpaper

On my quest for matrix wallpapers, I found this great binary code wallpaper which I thought I’d share. Programmers like myself can appreciate the zen-like simplicity of the base-2 counting system, which can represent any number using just zeroes and ones. From these numbers, we can store any kind of information – text, images, video – everything you see online is stored at a fundamental level in binary. This blue binary code wallpaper will appeal to geeks, hackers and programmers alike – enjoy!
